Every year, advertising agencies create print, social and video AD’s for products we use almost daily that are almost brandless. I am talking about everything from Milk, Avocados, and even Oranges. Typically, these day to day products are created by larger groups that hire advertisers like the California Milk Processors Board, Avocados from Mexico, and the Florida Department of Citrus.
For the Mid-term, your job is to choose a any generic food item in a grocery store (Milk, Avocados, Oranges, bananas, etc) and create 3 images that could be used for Instagram on that one item.
- These three images should be 1080px x 1080 px at 72 PPI
- You have to upload three Jpgs and three PSD’s with all layers showing the work
- You are choosing one food item. Not three to create a series of Insta-ads.
- Each file must show at minimum, using the layer mask to collage two or more items. Using filters or layer blending effects is encouraged.
- Minimal text if you so choose. No logos.
- Do some light research on what interesting and exciting ad’s exist in and outside the space. Make the work fun and something that would appeal to you.
- Use images from Pexels, Pixabay, Library of Congress, Flickr and other ethical sources for photos.
You have until 11:20 to complete the work. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck.
Grading based on:
- Proper file naming conventions
- Following the guidelines closely set above.
- Craftsmanship using digital tools
- How does your image sit comfortably next to or stand out in a sea of images on that product already? Would you find that the images you created are arresting to you and to others on Instagram?
- Do these images look like they come from the same campaign or do they look like their own narratives to draw you in?
