Due Week 14: 05/19/2020

For many illustrators and designers, there are projects the yield endless possibilities: Beer Labels, Concert Posters, T-Shirt designs, record packaging, surface design on objects (shoes, walls, cars…), etc.

For your final project, I am asking you to do a redesign of 12oz Coffee bags.

Visit Trade and choose any coffee brand they offer. I am using Trade as an example because they sell lots of small to medium size coffee brands that you can choose from or even full inspiration from.

• Once you choose a coffee brand, you are to redesign five of their blends. One of them has to be either their House Blend or Breakfast Blend. You’re redesigning the bag, not the logo itself. You can usually find the logo by Googling the company’s press kit.

• Research: What sizes do you need to make this bag. Is it better to show a mock of the bag or show it as a printed sheet? What kind of color schemes are you considering? How does the bag help tell the company’s story?

• Use Photoshop and Illustrator to develop the look, feel, and design of the new bags.

• I also want to see two 1080 px x 1080 px designs on how these bags would be advertised on Instagram.

How this project will be graded:

30% – Following instructions to choose one brand, five 12oz coffee blends bags redesigned, and two Instagram ADs of some of those blends.

25% – Do the individual files show a mastery of the use of Photoshop and Illustrator tools?

15% – Does the redesign reflect companies look and feel or does it feel refreshing in making it stand out while helping create a new story for itself?

15% – Are you using best practices while using your raster and vector tools?

10% – Organizing your folders between your AI files, PSD files, and Jpg’s. File names organized. Photoshop file layers are all clearly labeled.

5% – Turned in By Monday, May 18th, 2020 by 11:59 pm.

10% – Extra credit if you create a presentation for your final project as a PDF.
