Individual Strengths

I think my strengths lies in the main reason why I became a nurse which is to be an advocate for patients who can’t speak for themselves and who have lost their voice. Whether the patient needs help in translation or needs further patient teaching to make informed decisions. In order to do so you must make your patient the priority and put their needs first which I strive to do. I consider the importance of my patients physical wellbeing as well as their emotional. I am compassionate, empathetic, and warm. I take the time to listen to my patients to understand what it is they want. To make sure their voice is heard and to empower them to be active participants in their plan of care. I also rely on self reflection to recognize my own weaknesses or biases in order to better myself as a nurse. I try to incorporate evidence based practice when caring for my patients. I also to try to avoid falling into complacency or to continue to do things how they always have been done. Nursing is ever evolving and you must not stay stagnant. I continue to learn and know the important issues being faced in the nursing field.
