Stein Senior Center

204 East 23rd Street 2nd floor, New York, NY 10010

April 20, 2016, 8:30am-12:30pm

On this day at the Stein Senior Center my partner and I presented our project “Healthy Living Nutrition”, a family feud style game which tested the seniors on nutrition. Specifically the type of foods that contribute to health conditions like hypertension, high cholesterol, and heartburn and foods that help with hypoglycemia, build bones, and fight disease. One of the things that I ultimately learned from presenting this project was that you are never too old to learn. Among these seniors or at any age there will be a knowledge deficiency that needs to be filled. As a nurse among many other health or educational professionals we are a source to the public. One of the seniors had thanked me for my game presentation because she felt like she actually learned something. Just one person thanking me was enough to know my responsibility as a nurse is worthwhile and I am contributing to the welfare of others in my own way.
