Vocabulary
Word | Definition |
---|---|
Deck | performance area, the stage |
Down stage | Part of the stage closest to the audience |
Grid | Pipes or bars over the stage that are fixed to the building. |
Ground plan | A drawing of the stage seen from overhead |
House | audience area |
House right or House left | The side of stage corresponding to the direction from the audience perspective. |
Off stage | Those parts of the stage not seen by the audience. |
Section plan | A drawing of the stage seen from the side |
Stage right or stage left | The side of stage corresponding to the direction from the actor perspective. |
Up stage | Part of the stage furthest from the audience |
Venue | The space or building within which the performance occurs |

Virtual environment | The blending of the physical world with the virtual through computer or other technologies. |
Projection mapping | The turning of objects into surfaces for video projection. |
Augmented reality | An enhanced version of reality created by the use of technology to overlay digital information on an image of something being viewed through a device. |
