Themed Environment Project: Interactive display
The themed environment project is an opportunity to start networking with other entertainment technologists in your class.
Description
Welcome, team member, to the creation of the entrance to the Themed Project. Your job will be to design one of the following three interactive audience areas for the attraction “The Time Machine”: a roller coaster ride at a large theme park. Choose one of three locations to install an interactive display for your guests to experience while in line for the ride.
Area 1 Lobby Pre-show
- Entrance to the theme ride.
This area is designed to entice the audience to go on the ride. The entrance must be attractive, entertaining and interactive. This area includes a façade and entrance into the ride that uses a set of double doors that are six feet wide and seven feet tall. You have a 30 foot by 30 foot interior space that must also include a 3’-0” wide emergency exit.
The entrance to the next portion of the exhibit is also a 3’-0’ wide by 7’-0” doorway. Your area must be able to safely support and entertain eight audience members for five minutes. All walkways must be 3’-0’ wide. If an interactive display is near the audience walkway an additional 3’-0“ clearance must be used to keep all fire access areas safe and clear.
Area 2 Queue
2. This area must maintain, support and entertain the audience for five minutes. The entrance to this area is a 3’-0” doorway. The exit from this area is a 3’-0” doorway. All walkways must be 3’-0’ wide. If an interactive display is near the audience walkway an additional 3’-0“ clearance must be used to keep all fire access areas safe and clear. Your area must be able to safely support and entertain 8 audience members for five minutes. You must include a 3’-0” wide emergency exit. You interactive display must include audience training on the safe entrance and egress of their ride vehicle. You have a have a 30 foot by 30 foot interior space to accomplish you task.
Area 3 Loading
3. This area must maintain, support and entertain the audience for 5 minutes. The entrance to this area is a 3’-0” doorway. The exits from this area are shotgun gates into the ride area. There are four shotgun gate pre-load areas you must design into your work area. Each gated area is 3’-0” wide, 6’-0” long and can accommodate two passengers. You must have a minimum of two ride operators work stations near the gates. One ride operator to control the gates and one operator to guide the passengers into the ride. The gate operator must have an unblocked view of the gates at all times. All walk ways must be 3’-0’ wide. If an interactive display is near the audience walkway an additional 3’-0“clearance must be used to keep all fire access areas safe and clear. You must include a 3’-0” wide emergency exit. You have a 30 foot by 30 foot interior space to accomplish your task.
