Albert Coello ENG-2575 D594 Chapter 5 Summary

Chapter 5 talks about the Alan Turner who served during world war two decoding Nazi messages, he killed himself eating a cyanide-laced apple and now is remembered for creating the blueprint for the modern computer. Turner didn’t realize that his machine would become an universal medium and the internet is the end result of his work. The web succeeds as the best source of modern media. The web has gone through several enhancements from the addition of sounds to the implementation of videos, online gaming and commerce opportunities from companies like Netflix. However as a place of learning it also offers a plethora of sources from encyclopedias to blog, articles and news outlets. As a new medium it seems to replace old ones which are less effective. The web allows companies to change their products and presentation to something that fits that environment, sites now follow different standards which copy those from the biggest and more popular ….
