Intrusion Detection System (IDS)
An IDS is a system used to determine whether unauthorized access is occurring on a network. With IDS, it can monitor unusual activities that are going on via Bluetooth and/or other networks. Also when attacks are detected, we can also use an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) to further mitigate these attacks from even happening.
Unique Passwords
Manufacturers need to create unique user ids and passwords for each device instead of being lazy with them. Just the five most common combinations can get someone access to roughly 15 percent of all Internet of Things devices. The unique passwords can prevent IoT devices from future hacking and have a positive reassurance for the consumers buying these IoT devices.
Updates
One of the necessary support for updates should be an auto-update function or at least some form of update manager. Updates are convenient because it lets the manufacturer able to fix the errors they found after the IoT device is already out. This is a way to secure customers’ privacy.
