The deployment of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) is not a reality because of the issues that manufactures are facing. Nowadays, cybersecurity and hacking are of great concern, since everything is interconnected to internet Autonomous Vehicles are vulnerable to such attacks.

The computer power of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) is far from perfect. Autonomous vehicles’ artificial intelligence (AI) is still young, it has to be ready to interact with other AVs and conventional human drivers. The challenges are predicting possible actions from other drivers and making the choices that saves the most lives in case of a collision.

Our current road infrastructure is not ready (yet), specially the vulnerable road users. A city like New York City, will be a challenge since the roads are shared with all types of vehicles, pedestrians and where communication between human drivers is already difficult. Autonomous Vehicles have to react fast to a possible “sleepwalker newyorker” crossing the street while looking at his/her phone.
