In this prelab, we will touch two concepts:
- Power of ten
- Scientific notation
- Power of ten is just any of the integer powers of the number ten. When ten multiplied by itself a certain number of times, then the power is a positive integer. When ten divided by itself a certain number of times, then the power is a negative integer.
The operation of power of 10 is explained in the following video.
2. Scientific notation is a direct application of power of ten. It is a simple way to express a larger value or a small value. Any number can be expressed as a multiplication of a coefficient and power of ten, the coefficient must be a number greater or equal to 1 and less than 10 .
