Personal Beliefs/Philosophy about nursing
Nursing is a very noble profession. I aspired to be part of it since I was growing up, because I have witnessed several nurses who characterized the true meaning of nursing, serving sick people with love, compassion, respect and dignity. As a health care provider, I believe that nursing is an ideal service to humanity. It involves altruistic behaviour, guided by research, and governed by code of ethics.
Nursing is holistic. It encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well, in all settings. My goal in providing nursing care is to utilize my critical thinking, competencies and clinical skills with human kindness in helping clients to maintain or recover optimal health and quality of care.
Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and care of the ill. I also believe that nursing involves advocacy to protect the health, safety, and rights of the patients. As a nurse, it is very important to me to treat my clients as a unique individual. I always try to provide them the highest quality of care as possible.
