My Nursing Philosophy/Beliefs

My philosophy is to provide the best care possible to my patients, families and the community in order to promote and optimize health and wellness, and prevent illness and injury.  Nursing is the art of caring.  To effectively care for others, one must possess many skills and qualities essential to being an efficient nurse. These skills and qualities includes kindness, patience, compassion, respect for self and others, empathy, effective communication and integrity. I strive to continue to maintain these skills and qualities at all times despite the varying patient population, differing ideals and beliefs, and experiences I encounter on a daily basis. I use Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring as a foundation for my nursing practice and demonstrate her carative factors in my provision of care.  Nursing is a selfless profession, where the needs and beliefs of the patients are a priority. I enjoy helping others and do not hold back in giving of myself to others.
