I believe that compassion is my philosophy.  The nurse’s primary commitment is to their patient, and the nurse should strive to provide the patient with the care that addresses their needs. I believe in building a relationship with the patient, which will allow communication to flow. The nurse must listen to the patient and show empathy. Compassion entails showing the patient you are concerned for their well-being; by being an advocate for my patient and strive to protect their health, safety, and rights. Nursing is a profession that looks at the patient as a whole. It is important to meet all of the patient’s needs. I would think of how I would want to treatment rendered to me if I were the patient instead of the nurse. My philosophy include considering, can I rest peacefully knowing that I have done everything possible by providing the best care that I myself would want.
