Social Media Post for week 1.

The start of something new

So for week one of the internship, I was told to work on a social media post. I was given choices of photos provided by the client and based on what I was given I would determine which worked best to post on the Instagram page. I decided to do two versions of the photo to be posted on social media one illustrated and the other a full-on color vibrancy edit to bring the photo back to life. I felt it would be best for the client to have choices on what was best to post on the page. Ultimately the color restoration was chosen.

Bigger and Better

For Week two I was given more of a bigger project. So for this task, I was given Two weeks I am currently on week one and I have done a sample video ad to promote the business itself. To start off I did a simple animation for the intro Sequence. Afterwards I took it into after effects to add some text. Opened up primer Pro to add the assets provided such as video footage and some photos. Added some background music to bring the video to life a bit and ended it with a call to action to get the peoples attention. I have sent the first draft of the video to the client in hopes of some feedback to finalize the video ad by next week.

Keep it simple

So for week 3 Was given the task to work on a social media post and an ad for the internship I am currently working at. To start off I worked on the video edit. This task I kept simple I took the photo to Lightroom to fix the lighting and colour. Afterwards took it into photoshop to clean it up a bit short after I got to the finished project. Now, what was wrong with the photo? It had too much gone on and it was kinda dull. To fix the dullness in the photo added a bit o a warmer colour to it. Later fixed the sharpness and shadow to highlight more muscle. Lastly, I played with the clarity and light added to the photo itself.

Brainstorm 

So week 4 I got to brainstorming on the video as I had to incorporate a bit more animation into it. For two days I was sketching out ideas and working on the video at the same time but at one point I felt kinda stumped. I was trying to figure out a way to incorporate animation to a part of the video to make it more interesting one thought was to Simultaneously animate on top of part of the video and let it play regularly and incorporate it back again into the video. Then I thought to myself this is can happen but I don’t get that type of time so my plan B was to reuse the introduction animation that I for last weeks video slightly edit it to make it more interesting the way I did that was to go into Procreate do two slight minor alterations take it into aftereffects to play with some of the movements and ultimately take it into premiere pro. Now that I added a bit more to the beginning I had to incorporate something interesting to the end so my second idea was to animate an outro so in my head I was like I need something interesting and eye-catching while thinking out some ideas this came to mind what if I make an animation of a person doing a fighting move on the screen ultimately bringing in the call to action in the end. I looked up some online references and ultimately I found something I can work off of finally giving me a great cohesive piece to submit to the client.

Going Further 

This week was interesting I was able to attend the location of where my client works and I was tasked with taking pictures and videos Within the work internment to help me further in my following work duties. Since the internship provider works at a gym I was able to get a lot of action shots and photos. I will be using the photos and video clips to help me in my next project. For this project, I was asked to use the photos and videos I took to do some illustrations for the business along with that I will also create some ad content for promotions. This task is going to be a two-week assignment so what I am going to do first is use the first week for brainstorming and beta testing to see what works and what does not send a rough draft to the client to see if he likes the art direction, do some slight improvements the following week and submit the final product by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Productive 

This week was productive I drew out some notes for several ads I was creating. when putting the video together I had a bit of trouble finding some background music but ultimately I found something that tied in perfectly. Afterwards I did a social media post I just basically had to do some simple edits to a photo I was sent and add a caption to make it flow right all in all it was decent.

So when it comes to design and creativity for a company or institution you have to perceive things from an ethical standpoint now what do I mean by that? Well as defined ethics is “moral principles that govern a person’s behavior or the conducting of an activity.” or “the branch of knowledge that deals with moral principles.” as defined by (Oxford Languages) taking that into consideration when designing a work one must look out for authenticity and best measure for doing that is research and base studies on the company or brand. Now when I’m working for my client I have to ask several questions that way the project can go by smoothly the best way to reference this is from the reading “Why Every Designer Needs a Code of Ethics” published by designshack.net the section called “Designer’s Responsibility to Clients” which touches upon the topic of connecting with the client “The principle defines the basic way in which you will interact with clients. Concepts include conflicts of interest, confidentiality and professional responsibility and behavior.” (design shack) I think this is very important I know when working for my Internship I had to bounce off some ideas and the important thing was to ultimately get something that worked and also made sense henceforth making the client happy and the audience engaged.

As for confidentiality or non-disclosure, I did not have to sign any paperwork for that the Internship does work with an agency and they advise the boxing business on how much to post to do during the week and when to post. So based on that information I did my best to comply and get my work done by a set date. A subsection of a reading that went perfectly with this I would say was the topic on “Designer’s Responsibility to the Public” so when creating a cohesive design I had to make sure that the audience understood it and that it applied to a wide spectrum of viewers because the intentions of the boxing business are to obtain clients so my job was to make the message of what we are trying to push clear.best way to sum it up is this “Designers should also think about how they work they produce can impact the people who will see it.”(design shack) thats what I ultimately tried to capture when working on every project.

Creative Approach 

This week was a productive week was able to incorporate more of a creative approach towards making and editing the video ad that I composed for the boxing Internship. I incorporated a countdown at the beginning of the video to resumable the countdown before a boxing match thought that would be kinda cool. Also, I did a bit back and forth with some footage that was provided with a cool close-out animation I did of a boxer punching out the screen which I thought was a nice touch.

Ethics Part 2

While working on Projects If you are getting inspiration from a work you have seen definitely credit it in the process I know while doing the senior project or Design studio I had to in the process book. I’d like to say its an interesting experience that and it gets you in the habit of giving credit because most ideas nowadays are not original we incorporate things we see daily into our work and it’s important that the people that worked hard before us get some sort of credit or recognition. I remembered doing some work at BMCC similar to Salvador Dali’s work because I was so intrigued by how his mind worked it was kinda abstract and unexpected in a sense that made you wonder. A lot of modern artists and designers do their research and get some cool ideas out of it I believe as long as we give credit where it’s due it will show that we have mutual respect towards those people and what they do as individuals. 

B)Students are to give their opinion of the arguments and outcome of the Fairey Copyright case.

While reading “Shepard Fairey Is Fined and Sentenced to Probation in ‘Hope’ Poster Case” BY RANDY KENNEDY I thought the outcome was actually responsible I think prison would have been to extreme. Thats the thing now a day people don’t do research upon the material that they use thinking they are potentially doing a favor to the public and themselves of course by getting recognized but it ultimately ends up backfiring on them. Mr. Fairey should have been more careful though. while taking my type and media class we touched base upon this topic and how important copyrighting is and the laws behind it because it can lead to serious repercussions that can ultimately lead to incarceration.

Rather difficult 

This week even with being rather difficult but through it, I was able to complete this video that I was quite satisfied with it. In the video, I Incorporated some typography that I created with Procreate to add to the video along with some footage that I was able to edit to work with the ad itself. I composed the final product in Premier pro. The background music was some awesome tracks that I found while looking for free non-copyrighted music to help further enhance the viewer’s experience. Aside from that, I did a rough sketch of a poster I am planning on doing for next week and a photo edit for the Instagram page.

Better skills

This week started off well I was able to consult with the internship provider on a new project for next week we are thinking of doing something like a learn how video when it comes to boxing and how the training services provided can help better one’s skills. Another thing I’m Working on this week is making a poster which I’m excited to do this week Frank the guy I am currently interning for was not satisfied with a poster that was done for him before so I’d definitely like to take care of that for him and make it cooler and more appealing. Finally, I did some photo editing for the Instagram page in lightroom.

Improvement 

Week 10!! Closer to the finish line and it feels great I feel like I have Improved. This week I worked on a layered Illustration I did in procreate I really liked the way it came out.The Illustration depicts a boxer ready to fight in the back I added the colors of the boxers country of birth with a rustic touch. I feel like the overall compisition came out nice. This week was Farley easygoing. This is my entry for week 10 of my Journal.

Veteran 

This week was awesome made a Veterans Day video for the boxing internship the client really wanted to show appreciation to those who served. Aside from the veterans day video I got to finish a poster that was postponed but it was interesting because the more time I had the better the ideas came out which ultimately gave me som, something to be proud of. I really feel like my skills in this internship have advanced and I have become better in my craft.
