ARTH 1204: 20TH CENTURY DRESS AND CULTURE

This course surveys the evolution of fashion from the late 19th century to today, examining the diverse factors that have shaped clothing trends over time.  Through an analysis of historical periods, the course explores the impact of economics, politics, religion, and culture on fashion.  Key industry issues are addressed through readings, videos, discussions, and connections to the local fashion scene via field trips and guest speakers.
