College is still something I’m getting use to. In my opinion It is very different from high school because you’re all on your own. There isn’t anyone constantly pushing you to do what’s needed for you to succeed and things can gradually get harder depending on your lifestyle. It’s specifically hard for me because I have a job. Yes, I put my education first but I’m just an 18 year old freshman in college trying new things and gaining new experiences. My math class gets really frustrating because I’m not the best at math and class really isn’t That engaging. The professor teaches and ask questions but no one participates, the room is always silent and I barely understand what’s actually going on. I’m also struggling a lot with time management, I go to school In the mornings then I head straight to work After and By the time I get home it’s already 11pm and I’m really tired causing me to fall asleep then the cycle starts all over again the next day.
The commute from home to school is two hours long which means I have to wake up even earlier to accommodate for delays with the MTA or any other unpredictable events Because being late to my classes will have a negative impact on my academic performance, So I never get enough sleep, nor, do I ever have the time to eat breakfast.
Honestly, I don’t even know if hospitality management is the career I want to peruse for the rest of my life. Electrical engineering has been something I’ve wanted to to for a very long time now but the math courses are really hard so I feel as if I was forced to switch to something a little easier because I’m not capable of passing those classes. I’m just really confused and life is really rough at the moment but I’m giving it my all. I’m hoping I can meet people/friends that can give me advise on my situation so I can be a better, stronger individual and graduate on time !
