Growing up, I’ve always wanted to be in the health care industry. Although the dental field was not my initial choice, learning more about the hygiene career sparked that change.
As the eldest daughter to Korean immigrants, my parents have always expressed the importance of education. Due to my parents growing up in the country side, they knew little about oral health care, as I began my hygiene journey, both of my parents had the opportunity to be patients of mine, and through this experience, I realized the potential this profession had to help people both on an individual and community scale.
Prior to entering NYCCT dental hygiene program, I had no professional dental experience, however through hard work and dedication, this program has pushed me to out of my comfort zone, and taught me that with time and patience all tasks never fall short of your reach.
