Philosophy

I believe that Florence Nightingale was one of the most significant nurses in the history of nursing. In her career she defines and outlines the limitations of nursing care. Nightingale effort in the field of nursing has set the framework for all the nurses who looked up to her. One of her conviction was that nurses should be knowledgeable in order to provide the best quality care.

When I look at my nursing career I become more aware that I have innocently put in place sets of beliefs and values for myself, which I have considered to be my personal philosophy in nursing. The knowledge that I have obtained from my nursing classes, experiences, my communication with a vast diverse patient population, family members, and other healthcare professionals has help me to acknowledge my personal philosophy in nursing.

Over the past five years I have recognized the remarkable growth that I have made, from the role of a new nurse in becoming an experienced Registered Nurse. While I continued in advancing my career  I have  come to realize that my moral principles has connected me  with a diverse patient population, and I hope that my role as a Registered Nurse professional, will continue to develop with me.

As I continued in practice, it is my conviction that each of my patient will be treated as an individual, receive the greatest quality of care, in spite of their race, sexual characteristics, age, religious beliefs and socioeconomic status. In my everyday practice I acknowledge my patients personal space, at no time should their privacy be compromised, because it my belief that their respect is valuable, even if their views are different from mine. Honesty and safety is also another important priority, patient and their families deserve to be in a setting that is safe, promotes wellness, healing and learning.

As I continue growing in this profession, I will share my knowledge with as many patients and their families, because educating and advocating for my patients are crucial and some of my values. The Integration of Evidence Based Practice into my work place will assist me in establishing excellent patient results. It is my perception that, patient centered care will always result in positive comes, while treating others like I would want me or my loved ones to be treated. I considered myself to be a committed and valuable member of the healthcare profession; I will continue to support my patients in attaining their individual goals.
