Research following data:

1. Collecting data of energy usage of a typical data center: how much they are using.

2. Collecting data of how much heat from a WTE facility and how much the heat pump can transfer heat from the WTE facility.

2. Purpose

3. Methodology

Abstract draft

Energy consumption in the US is increasing quickly as our technological needs are increasing. As more businesses create services for users, more servers in data centers are necessary. In order to reduce the energy consumption of data centers, we analyzed how much energy a waste-to-energy (WTE) facility could provide to a data center using a heat pump system if the two facilities were integrated together. After analyzing the information from our simulation model, we found that combining a data center with a WTE facility will reduce a data center’s energy consumption by 20%.

Methodology for research.

X CITI training <- finished.
X Literature Review (selected 3 papers and reading them)
X Today we will learn how to write a paper/power point slides
Paper: academic papers -> Why? To impress others, gain recognition, and get promoted.
convey your idea
Title, Abstract, Keywords, Main contents (Introduction, Methodology[how to do experimental work, how to simulate or create a model], Results, Discussion, Conclusion)

Title: some important keywords have to be included.

Abstract: one paragraph. 4-5 sentences.
4 sentences:

state a problem
Energy consumption in US is getting increasing and a lot of computers/servers are operated.

say why it’s an interesting problem?
Minimizing the energy consumption of data centers will help our society.

say what your solution achieves

In order to reduce the data centers’ energy consumption, we analyzed a data center integrated with a Waste-to-energy (WTE)/coal-fire power plant using a new mathematical model.  Heat pump.

say what follows from your solution

From this energy analysis by using the simulation model, we found that combining a data center with a power plant will reduce energy consumption by 20%.

Project Title: Energy Analysis of a Sustainable Datacenter powered and cooled by Waste-to-Energy (WTE) Facilities

Energy consumption of Datacenters in US has increased since 1990’s due to development of the computer and network infrastructures. This research will show energy analysis of datacenter utilizing Waste-to-Energy Facilities that generate electricity and heat.  Motiur will do literature review and calculation of energy analysis for a datacenter and a WTE facility.
