In the Fall of 2018, my dental hygiene class had the opportunity to attend the Greater New York Dental Meeting and partner with Colgate to help children learn about oral health. Some students taught how to brush teeth, some assisted with paperwork in the dental screening van, and still others entertained the children between stations with songs and dances about healthy teeth. I was part of a singing group.
My group presented a song about brushing, rinsing, and flossing to classes of children. I introduced the activity, sang our song, and then taught brushing and flossing to smaller groups of children using hands-on demonstrations and puppets/teeth models. This day was incredibly rewarding and fun!
