Grand Concourse Academy Charter School

As a classroom teacher, it was essential that I was organized, creative, and able to adapt to the changing environment in my classroom. It was vital to develop an effective communication manner in order to teach children, converse with parents, and speak meaningfully with school personnel. Working at GCA certainly helped me hone my communication skills. This will help me to teach homecare to patients, as well as get along with my coworkers.

At the same time, not all of the children were on the same level in regards to maturity, skills, and understanding. I learned how to break complex tasks into manageable steps. I also learned how to manage emotional triggers, deescalate stressful situations, and lead students to make appropriate choices in behavior.  These skills will allow me to work with many different kinds of patients.
