Course Syllabus: Financial Forecasting

Course Description: The course offers a detailed analysis of the principles and techniques essential for financial forecasting, financial management, and modeling, emphasizing their practical application in decision-making within a firm. Business professionals’ specific forecasting and modeling needs are a focal point of the course. Topics covered include capital budgeting principles and applications, modeling using MS Excel with built-in add-ins, multinational finance, and risk management.

Furthermore, students will gain proficiency in modeling various investments, portfolio theory, and instruments for hedging, such as derivatives and options. The course addresses specific challenges encountered by professionals in the fashion, technology, financial services, and professional services fields. Individual lab assignments and team projects require the use of MS Excel or other spreadsheet programs to create models. Students will also develop skills in preparing presentations using MS PowerPoint and reports using MS Word.
