Curtain Wall:  aluminum-framed wall containing in-fills of glass, metal panels, or thin stone. The framing is attached to the building structure and does not carry the floor or roof loads of the building.

Mullions: vertical element that forms a division between units of a window. Its purpose is to provide structural support to an arch or lintel above the window opening.

Truss:  A supporting structure composed of beams, girders, or rods commonly of steel or wood lying in a single plane.

Columns: It is a structural element that transmits through compression, the weight of the structure above to other structural elements below.

Veneer: A thin layer applied to another material.

Cladding:  Is the application of one material over another to provide a layer that  controls the infiltration of weather elements and for aesthetic purposes.

Gasket: a piece of material that is used to make a tight seal between two parts that are joined together.

 

Vocabulary

Hidden Element : it is a tool in Revit that is used to hide a element or category of an object , not permanently.

Leaderline: a leaderline in Revit refers to a line added to connect a text to an object.

Section: refers to an area or hidden part of an object cut away or removed some of that object.

Light bulb: It reveals hidden elements and you can unhide in view element.

Weephole: refers to where water is being let out.

Cork: refers to a seal.

 

 

  • NODE- a point at which lines or pathways intersect or branch; a central or connecting point.
  • SMOKE CURTAIN- A barrier that restricts the spread of smoke.
  • GRANDFATHERED- a provision in which an old rule continues to apply to some existing situations while a new rule will apply to all future cases.
  • VARIANCE- the state, quality, or fact of being variable,divergent, different, or anomalous.
