The variety of colors and flavors makes the Middle Eastern cuisine unique and delicious.

Land

Dubai is a very rich and luxurious city and amazes tourists whenever visiting there. Tourists and visitors assume that oil is the reason for Dubai being rich, however, oil only makes up about 1% of Dubai’s GDP (Rishti, 2022). GPD which is short for Gross Domestic Product helps economists measure the economic health of a specific city, state or country (Kramer, 2022). Dubai comes in second as the biggest oil producer in UAE after Abu Dhabi and has more than four billion oil barrels on hand (Majumder, 2022). Oil in Dubai was discovered in 1966 and soon after, Dubai began to do oil exports in 1969 and continued to grow (Majumder, 2022). From the 1960’s to the 1990’s, 50% of Dubai’s GDP came from oil, but through the years, Dubai retail trade and wholesale began to dominate Dubai’s GDP along with tourism which decreased the oil GDP from 50% to around 1% (Winkler, 2018). This transition was the start of the modernization of Dubai.

Before Dubai became this worldwide city of attraction for tourists, it was simply a desert that is surrounded by the Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf (Fanack, 2020). Throughout the years, Dubai has tremendously modernized but to maintain this modernization and stop desertification, the city planted 170,000 trees in different locations in the city in 2021(Gulf News Report, 2022). The trees that were planted are palm, olive, ghafs, neem and many more (Gulf News Report, 2022). In addition, some plants that are native to Dubai include Al Ara, Toothbrush tree, Arta, Rimth and more (Platinum Heritage, 2023). These plants still manage to grow, despite Dubai’s humid and dr climate.

Labor

Dubai is known for its modern infrastructures, skyscraper buildings & many more, meaning that there must be strong labor in Dubai with a lot of workers in order to build these infrastructures and buildings. The unemployment rate in Dubai is currently at 0.5% (Dubai Statistics Center, 2023). There is also no minimum wage or salary in Dubai, however, there is a mandate that companies make sure that the wages and salaries of employees cover the basic necessities of the employees (Wego Travel, 2023). This is one of the many reasons why the unemployment rate in Dubai is very low.

Capital

Dubai is one of the strongest capital resources cities in UAE, when it comes to money, machinery market and infrastructure (The Economy of Dubai, 2017). Dubai is third ranked for infrastructure worldwide, the city’s infrastructure has supported economic growth and industrial growth The new developing infrastructure will grow 57.4% over time, while financial and businesses will grow 55.6% through the surveyed period (Dubai’s Transport Infrastructure Ranks ‘Among World Best’, 2023).

Aside from infrastructure, the machinery market in Dubai is expected to grow by 6.9%, reaching 265,969 million in the current year (United Arab Emirates Construction Industry Report, 2023). Dubai is still facing some minor challenges in some sectors but they are remaining intact, Dubai will still be expecting growth steady over time.

Entrepreneurship

Being a part of a country known for its oil production, but not making up a large portion of its production, Dubai has expanded its reach into other entrepreneurial ventures. Hosting world expos that can last months (Expo 2020 Dubai, 2022), the city has established a way to make billions. The expositions are like giant advertisements for the city and its culture, showing the very best of what they have to offer as well as allowing the intermingling of other countries.
