The climate in Dubai plays a big role in one’s apparel because of the desert climate that Dubai endure throughout the year (Brewer, 2020). Dubai is located in the Middle East, where the climate is always humid and dry. Dubai has two main seasons which are summer season and the winter season (Climate Change Knowledge Portal, 2021). The summer/hottest months are typically from May to October while the most humid months are from August until September (Dubai Travel Planner, 2023). January is the coldest month in Dubai which the weather being as low as 58 degrees Fahrenheit, July is the hottest month with the weather being as high as 106 degrees Fahrenheit and August is the most humid month with the weather being as high as 115 degrees Fahrenheit (Brewer, 2020). With Dubai having two main seasons, the heat seems to dominate the city.

To maintain the modesty of dress in Dubai’s religion, the fabrics worn are usually breathable material such as cotton and linen so one can remain fully clothed and not extremely hot (Dubai Tickets, 2023). Cotton is a fabric that absorbs moisture from one’s body and is lightweight and breathable which is why it is an ideal option to be worn in hot weather (OCS Team, 2023). The same goes for linen because it is breathable and absorbs moisture (Linen Club, 2022). With the climate being hot in Dubai, cotton and linen pieces of clothing such as t-shirts, dresses past the knee, pants, shorts past the knee are recommended to be worn to stay cool (Chandris, 2023). Unfortunately, with Dubai’s desert climate and hot weather, the air quality is highly polluted and unhealthy .
