We took further steps by looking at related material within the resources we chose to help us learn more about what causes obesity. We relied on the information from a few sources to come up with material that helps make our point.
Childhood obesity can be caused by many reasons. Three of the main causes that lead to obesity in children is poor eating habits, lack of exercising and genetic dispositions which can be passed down from generation to generation. Other minor causes of obesity are poor family living and hormonal influences.

Conditions Leading to Health Risk
- Behavior– Unhealthy eating habits along with poor exercising
- Community Environment– Not having a safe and accessible areas to play sports and be active.
- Limited access to healthy affordable foods. – Having areas in the community where affordable healthy options are more attainable
- Greater availability of high-energy-dense foods and sugar sweetened beverage- On every street corner you see places that sell junk food and high sugar drinks for low cost
- Increasing portion sizes- Large plates of food allow children to consume more calories than needed.
