When I was younger, I had a big fascination with dinosaurs. This was a common fascination, and I honestly did know a lot about them. Almost every day I would bring them up. To the crossing guard, to my sister, to my classmates. I found that I would ask and ask about them as to gather more and more facts. Eventually since i asked so much, my parents would bring me to see exhibitions for dinosaurs. To this day I adore the Museum of Natural History due to the huge skeletal monuments of the beast that used to dominate the planet. Of course, when I was young, I would be told a lot about dinosaurs and teachers would like to egg me on about them, but eventually that all stopped. Fewer and fewer people seemed to care what I spoke about and my fascinations within this topic so I think my only choice, although subconsciously made, was to change my interest to something people would prefer. I would like to say over time my curiosity did not shift or change or even become less but truthfully, it is obvious within us all that these changes did occur. No matter how much we fight, in our current society, loss of curiosity and imagination is fairly common. This could be attributed to many things like seeing the reality of our situations or how unlikely it is to reach our goals. To snuff out even the last glimmering hope we have to something great is the norm when being told to “grow up”. Unfortunately, that is what it takes to be an adult and mature these days so as of now my new sense of curiosity is shifted to just having a good job and living a comfortable life. This is the dream for many of us now and is the best we can imagine.
