As a kid I was interested in cars , the way they work , their engines , transmissions , and just about anything car related. My earliest memories are of my dad taking me to car shows and holding the flash light while he worked on the cars at home. I questioned everything he did , every step of the way, and he answered and explained to me every single time. This helped me understand more and more and made me fall in love with cars because I associated the feeling I get from spending time with my dad to cars and eventually based off my love for my father i realized whenever he wasn’t there I was looking for and researching cars and that made me realize I genuinely like this topic now outside of when I’m with him.
This curiosity has only gotten stronger over the years , except instead of him teaching me a lot of stuff I’m teaching him some stuff and its a constant competition between me and him . The education system played a negative role in my curiosity because my teachers would constantly try to get rid of my infatuation with cars by just minimizing it by saying statements like , its just a car ,its not a big deal. When I was applying for college, I was asked to write about something I was passionate about , so I chose cars and wrote my essay draft , upon completing my draft i gave it to my guidance counselor and he threw it out and told me to write about something that relates to my major . I feel like that is an example of the education system killing my curiosity.
