Assignment for Thursday, October 29
Write a paragraph where you describe what topic you want to use for your Final (Research) Project, why you’re interested in it, what questions you have, what you know already, etc.
Assignment #1:
- Either Go to Files on the Open Lab course main page OR click on Handouts & Readings on the top navigation bar.
- Find “Handout: Writing the Summary.”
- The assignment is part of that Handout.
Assignment #2:
- Write a summary for all four readings (Alexie, Malcolm X, Williams, Barry).
- Write an analysis (Description, Evaluation, Response) for two readings:
- Do either Alexie or Malcolm X.
- Do either Williams or Barry.
- To see how to write the analysis, go either to Files on the Open Lab main course page OR click on Readings & Handouts on the navigation bar. Find “Handout; Writing the Analysis.”
- Bring your pocket folder with you. Put the Summary-Responses you did for Week 2 in it. You’ll add the Summaries and Analyses to it at the end of Week 3’s class.
Assignment for Friday, September 18
- Write a Summary-Analysis of these two essays (you’ll find them both under Handouts & Readings on the top navigation bar):
- Amy Tan, “Mother Tongue”
- Judith Ortiz Cofer, “The Myth of the Latin Woman: Just Met a Girl Named Maria“
- If you haven’t turned in all of your work for the first three weeks, do one of these things:
- email it to me at DBlain@citytech.cuny.edu
- bring it to me in the Atrium Learning Center Writing Tutoring room (AG-31) Thursday, Sept. 17 between 11 and 4.
Assignment for Friday, October 2
- Do Summary and Analysis for two pieces:
- Naylor
- Marquez
- Bring in any work you haven’t turned in yet.
