HUS-3608 Vulnerable Population Attending this class gave me the understanding of why it’s important to meet the client where they are and not trying to change them from the door.
HUS-3501 Counseling Methods Attending this class gave me the opportunity to learn how to be a counselor by doing role reverse with my classmates. During these sessions we were able to apply certain theories and concepts, such as Active Listening, during this activity you learn to listen for certain words and phrase clients may use as well as body language.
HUS-3503 Case Management Attending this class gave me the knowledge of how to conduct an intake as well as being accretive and accurate when assessing a client and handling any clients file when working in the field. Having great listening skills and showing the client that you care through those skills will allow the client to become open during a session.
HUS-3504 Group Work Practice Attending this class gave me the skills necessary to run a group and understand that everyone comes from a different background and how to deal with different types of populations.

While obtaining my degree in the Human Service Field I have learned a lot but I believe while attending certain classes has given me the skills and knowledge to conduct myself more proficiently.
