My decision to become a nurse was not a lifelong dream from childhood, in fact, my career choice was made while I was in high school while my grandfather suffered from progressive dementia and became total bedbound and developed a stage II pressure ulcer on his sacral area. Seeing how the home visit nurse dedicated herself to take care of my grandfather made me feel I want to be like her, who is always has empathy, and take compassion for her patients. After I got my Registered Nurse license, it was not easy as I thought to work as a nurse. My first job was substitute school nurse. As someone who has no experience at all, I remembered how scared I felt every time when I entered a new school. As time goes by, I gained more confident and each experience that I have countered prepare me to become a better self.

Participating in this class helped me to manage my time better and become more responsible. The biggest challenging for me is how to balance between my full time job and take three classes at the same time. Every time when it gets closer to the due date while my homework assignments has not finish yet, I became so anxious. We only get 24 hours a day and I have my work and homework assignments at the same time. So if I have issues I need to resolve, I would make sure I asked the questions and get clarity. This course reinforced my skills of how to manage time and handle stress. This course also taught me the professional aspect of nursing as well as preparing me more and more for the future as I go through my nursing career. No two patients are the same, we should never stop learning as nurse. The RN-BS program helped me to gain knowledge and advance my nursing career.
