On my second semester in the DH program at NYCCT, I decided to become part of the SADHA 2019-2020 group. I was one of the class representatives of my evening class. One of the main reasons I attended SADHA was because it gave me an opportunity to be enrolled in extracurricular activities.
One of the main activities I loved to be a part of were the toothbrush sales. The first time I participated in a toothbrush sale was very amusing and fun. The toothbrush sale would give us the opportunity to sell oral hygiene products to many students and faculty at the NYCCT. It helped raise money for a panoramic machine for the NYCCT dental hygiene clinic.
Being part of SADHA has given an opportunity to learn more about the true meaning of responsibility and commitment. I learned that there are many ways to educate the community about oral hygiene care in a fun and caring manner. The SADHA group has shown me that the role of a future hygienist is to understand and educate the public about the importance of oral health.
