Makeshift Survival Structure Sketch

The structure is made of three major elements. Rocks, Sticks, and Grass. The Sketch differentiates the grass from the sticks with shading and the rocks are drawn at the foundation.

Native American Teepee

The Teepee also has a tent shape however it is much larger than most of the other “primitive shelters. It’s base also has a more octagonal shape as opposed to circular, so it’s plan was quite different.

Dome-Shaped Shelter

The Dome shape is expressed in the pan by the high number of “columns.” As the covering is wrapped around the structure becomes more circular. I used a “stick man” in most sketches to help show the scale of these buildings, he is supposed to represent the size of an average person.

Arabian Palm Shelter

Of all the structures I sketched this one strays far away from the typical “tent” shape. It is more like a very simplified box house. Unlike all the other structures, it is made purely of one material, the palm leaf. In the sketch I attempted to use shading to show how the palm leaves are used in various ways to make the structure.
