Difficulties encountered by medieval and modern pilgrims are not the same. The medieval pilgrim had much more harder stuff to handle during the walk. The medieval pilgrim had to face thick forests, mosquito, wild animals, rivers and undrinkable water. Also on occasion they would face bandits or robber that attack if even there law that prohibits people to attack pilgrims. The modern pilgrims had much easier way to walk to 500 miles. In the video one guy say his difficult was sleeping in summer in the hotel that pilgrims stay in. Modern pilgrim had better shoes, clothes, book bag, water and food during the journey. Now there even people biking to the place which would take less time.
I would not consider walking or biking 500 miles because it going to take too long. In the video it say it take about one month. During the 500 miles I would get bored walking so much. If it take 50 miles to reach there, than I would say yes.
