Pericles speech views how a Greek ideal man should be. Pericles says that âthat the Lacedaemonians do not invade our country alone, but bring with them all their confederates; while we Athenians advance unsupported into the territory of a neighbour and fighting upon a foreign soil usually vanquish with ease men who are defending their homes.â Pericles is saying that ideal man donât need bring back up when they fight they do it by themselves. It shows how the Athenians have courage, strength and wiliness to fight. Like the Polykleitosâ Doryphoros sculpture he look strong, brave and willing to fight anytime like what Pericles is describing in his speech. The Doryphoros sculpture show how a perfect man should look. Masculinity to me is described by courage and muscles.
