Bio

I’m sort of on that path that college students come across when they’re not sure what they want their future to be like: one direction on this path led me to graphic design, and I enjoyed learning how to use Illustrator and Photoshop this semester. I learned to use tools artists/designers use and will pass these skills onto my sister who is also interested in graphic design. The other direction on this confusing path is a career helping people by joining the EMT/NYPD/FDNY. Other than that, I’m your average young adult in NYC: I love anime, manga, video games, and I’m very laid back. Almost too laid back, since I embrace the “Hakuna Matata” saying from the Lion King, and try to worry about the small stuff, which sometimes falls under schoolwork. I graduated from Flushing High School, and will always consider Flushing/Corona as my hometown(s).

Many teenagers today are part of the Otaku crowd, a community that watches anime and reads manga either as a hobby, or as something they’re passionate about. I’ve met a few students here at CityTech who share the same love for manga, anime, and video games as I do. Some of us aspire to help animate great stories, or perhaps help in the design or illustration of one. After coming across Berserk by Kentaro Miura, I realized how amazing it was to be able to tell a story through a graphic novel, to display emotions that are better shown through illustrations. As I read through the thirty-seven volumes, every chapter enveloped me into a medieval world of demons, swords, monsters, and adventure. All the issues I had been going through didn’t seem to matter, and Berserk helped me get through a tough time in my life. I want to create my own series of graphic novels to help distract someone from their problem and worries by enveloping them in a world I helped design.
