Architectural Halloween

I really want to have some sort of celebration for Halloween this year, even if COVID might cancel it.

Last year, we had a pumpkin carving contest! The winner ended up having their pumpkin printed as an adorable key chain!

It was a really cute time, but unfortunately it wont be the same this year.

So what else can we do to celebrate the best holiday in the world?
I was thinking maybe we could design pumpkins digitally, whether 2D or 3D!

Give us a comment below on what you would want to do for Halloween :^)

Nick Shaw – Foam Free High Performance Building Enclosures

This Thursday, September 10, 2020, at 12:45 we will be kicking off the semester with Nick Shaw as our first ever Zoom guest speaker!

Nick Shaw

Nick is a PHIUS certified Consultant and Builder, familiar with a variety of high performance techniques as a self-described sustainable design nerd. Nick has been working in the green building field for 11 years primarily on integrated design-build projects, has a BA in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Environmental Education from Warren Wilson College, and is very excited by the number of high performance buildings going up in New York. Nick spends his free time enjoying the outdoors by hiking, rock climbing, fly fishing, and snowboarding.

He will be presenting about Passive Houses and Building Science Concepts, with this description:

Foam Free High Performance Building Enclosures presents a clear and practical guide to achieving the highest levels of resilient and sustainable building enclosures while eliminating foam. The growing performance demands of air control, vapor control, thermal control, health and sustainability are examined.Foam insulation, dominant in today’s high-performance marketplace, is increasingly recognized as hindering many of these building performance goals. Practitioners are therefore wanting and finding new solutions that virtually eliminate foam and provide greater performance. This presentation is a careful look at how to do it.
