SITE ANALYSIS & SITE INTERACTION
This assignment will incorporate the knowledge formed from the Site Analysis and develop compelling diagrams that shows how your site works within this context of this neighborhood and the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Your board should include the following:
- Drawings, images, and text describing the site (do not just repeat theĀ site analysis)
- Diagrams showing how your site will interact with the surrounding sites, buildings, open space, paths, water edge….
- Bring the site to life through your own eyes
- Additional resources: Ā Read chapter III of “The Image of the City” by Kevin Lynch. Represent the site by creating your own “mental map,” drawing paths, edges, districts, nodes, landmarks. (Link to full text: The Image of the City)
- Show us which surrounding buildings are residential, commercial or civic; public, private, or mixed; show us where the open space is and which ones you will connect.
- The site is three-dimensional – how will you use the various heights – especially since we are in a flood plain.
- How does natural light works at the site- is it important? what about the views?
- Take pictures of and/or draw common materials, or materials that interest you around the site
- Create a hierarchy of the key elements that you would like to incorporate in your site.
- This can be done through a series of diagrams.
