DB #2 – Analyzing an EdTech Solution
Reflection:
The purpose of this discussion board is to analyze how educators currently use educational technology as solutions to support students’ instruction. Through observing other teachers in their classrooms, I decided to look into the platform Kahoot. Many teachers find this platform very useful when trying to get students motivated and make learning more interactive using the gamification effect. Through my research, I can see how Kahoot makes lessons more interactive and also reduces passivity in the classroom. However, since this is an application that can be accessed through students’ phones, it can lead to distractions in opening other apps like Snapchat. In the end, students choose to allow technology to be apart of their learning experience or to take advantage of it. Through this discussion board, I learned how technology could have its benefits and drawbacks, but how organized and prepared a teacher is can change the outcome.
