Actual Cover Letter To Winthrop University Hospital

This is a cover letter that I used for Winthrop University Hospital which granted me a phone interview, and an in-person interview. I eventually declined the offer because I accepted a position at another hospital.

Dear Nursing Recruitment Department of Winthrop University Hospital:

There are certainly many reasons why a person would seek employment at Winthrop: your facility has received multiple grants lately for research in multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, diabetes research, and is the only hospital on Long Island to be designated as “Baby-Friendly” – just to name a few. While there are a myriad of wonderful reasons to choose to work at Winthrop, my reasoning encompasses all of those, and one very basic goal – to make a difference by providing high quality healthcare through my nursing actions.

I am writing to you today because I would like to apply to the posted Registered Nurse (RN) position. I have what it takes to help communicate with, establish trust with, and provide excellent care for the residents of New York. I am confident that I meet and will exceed your expectations as a member of Winthrop’s healthcare team. I will bring a vast amount of skills I acquired in jobs prior to becoming an RN such as leadership, management, and the ability to work under stressful situations. I also have my strong foundation of nursing knowledge, courtesy of New York City College of Technology’s excellent clinical rotations, and I am continuing my education by attending Bachelor of Nursing courses. In addition to my previous experiences, I have scheduled for ACLS, PALS, and IV Therapy courses and will have attained these certifications by March 30th, 2015.

I have free availability, with the exception of the hours of 6 PM – 9 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so I may attend my nursing classes. I am willing to work any shift, any holiday, and any weekend days that are required of me. I would love the opportunity to interview with you so that we may better discuss how I can contribute to your hospital.

Sincerely,

Amy Liu, RN
