These are some of my favorite personal pieces.
Temple Painting
This is a painting I did in one of my private art classes. It is acrylic on canvas. I chose a photograph of this temple because I liked the composition and all of the organic shapes of the rocks. During the process I learned a lot about how to distinguish shapes from each other by using lighting and shades, and mixing warm and cool tones. As well as depth, with the forefront being highly detailed and the background being faded and muted.
Daft Punk Painting
This is a portrait of the musical group Daft Punk. It is gouache on paper. The process of this painting allowed me to learn a lot about color matching. As well as seeing the finer details in all of the metal and reflections.
Evangelion Painting
This is a painting of one of my favorite scenes in the move “End of Evangelion.” It is acrylic on paper. My favorite aspect about it is the warm, harmonious colors against the cool dark blue background.
Motorcyclist Portrait
This is a portrait of a motorcyclist. It is simply pencil on paper. I drew this after avoiding simple pencil sketches for so long, and I do wish I had used a softer and darker pencil to add more contrast. I enjoyed the challenge of building up shapes and highlights using dark patches of graphite. As well as adding finer details with thin pencil strokes.
Water Under a Bridge
This is a painting of a bridge over a river. It is oil on canvas. This was also done in my private art class. This was my second oil painting I ever did, and it is a large improvement from my first one. I learned how to paint in layers, and how to add depth by using lighter colors on top of dark ones. I was also able to add small details after the base had fully dried.
