What is Mechanical Engineering?
Mechanical engineering is the broadest disciplines of engineering known. Mechanical engineers research, design, develop, build, and test mechanical devices, including tools, engines, and machines.
The Job of A Mechanical Engineer
Mechanical engineers provide efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small component designs to extremely large plant, machinery or vehicles. They can work on all stages of a product, from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning.
Most industries rely on a form of mechanical systems. Mechanical engineering is thought to be one of the most diverse of all engineering disciplines. There are employment opportunities available in a wide range of sectors, such as the manufacturing, power, construction and medical industries.
Mechanical Engineers’ jobs usually entail a number of duties such as plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice, but includes a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties.
