Introduction

Hi, my name is Arodis Arias. I’m a student in the dental hygiene program at New York City College of Technology, I will be graduating from the program on June 4, 2013.
When I first came to this country I attended The New York Medical and Dental Assistant school. There I received a certificate in dental assisting. Once I completed the program, I applied for a job working in a dental office as a dental assistant. I’ve been working in that office for the past ten years now. I found it to be a very rewarding and knowledgeable. I gained a lot of experience working there. What inspired me to enroll in the dental hygienist program at New York City College of Technology was that I wanted a career. I no longer wanted a job. Since, I had been employed at my job I always felt that I wanted more, that I wanted to better myself I wanted this and needed this for my family and myself. I always knew that the only way that I would be able to gain this was by going to school. I knew that going back to school was going to be a sacrifice, a sacrifice that I was willing to take. In the long run it will pay off.
To me Dental Hygiene is an open door, it’s full of opportunities to give and receive.
