Mission

The mission of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Faculty Staff Association is to develop and build community, promote diversity, and advocate for the AAPI faculty, staff, students, and alumni of City Tech. The organization seeks to collaborate with the institution to raise awareness of the experiences, perspectives, and contributions and to increase cross-cultural understanding through campus events and programs.

Goals & Purpose of the Committee

The AAPI Committee will work to report on the status and recommend/promote action on the following:

1. Recruitment, enrollment, and persistence of AAPI students at City Tech.

2. Development of curriculum and academic initiatives relevant to AAPI students.

3. Fostering community and a sense of belonging for AAPI faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

General Committee and Steering Committee

General committee membership is open to all City Tech community members interested in promoting the mission and goals of the AAPI committee, including faculty (full-time and adjuncts), staff, students, administrators, and alumni. The steering committee plans and communicates AAPI-related information and events to its members.

The structure of the steering committee will be as follows:

1. The steering committee will consist of a minimum of five officers and a maximum of ten officers with at least three (3) faculty and two (2) members from staff, HEOs, administrators, students, or alumni. There should be representation from each of the three schools.

2. The steering committee shall include a chairperson and secretary and shall be elected by the committee for three years.

3. Steering committee members will be appointed for a three-year term. If a student becomes a steering committee member, the student will serve at least one year.
