The American Negro Theatre may not be well know outside of theatre artist or scholar’s. It probably isn’t known due to the organization only lasting 11 years. But this organization was a pivotal foundation and inspiration for many future activists. Activists such as Lorraine Hansberry and Ruby Dee. Both Black women who have broken barriers from their work. Lorraine Hansberry, a playwright who had put her experiences of injustices through her writing. She was the first Black female playwright to have her play be performed on Broadway. Ruby Dee is an actress who has participated in twenty-five films. Many of which broke the stereotypes of Black Americans. Both of these women show the importance of The American Negro Theatre had on them. I wanted to do this project for the purpose of showing how even though The American Negro Theatre only lasted for a while it had a big influence to many Black playwright’s, actors and activists.

Hi, I’m Ashley Varon, and I major in Commnication Design at the City College of Technology. I am a junior at my university studying to become a web designer and developer. My experiences with websites have shown me just how crucial it is to have a responsive site for users to have a seamless experience while navigating through a site and how web traffic can be controlled. A responsive web design should respond to a user’s behavior and environment based on screen size, platform, and orientation. Iv researched just how important the impact is on businesses and the user’s point of view.

I will be delivering a training workshop on elevator rescue operations for a small volunteer fire company on Long Island using the online platform Zoom. I have created a PowerPoint presentation which introduces the fire company to basic elevator rescue; including nomenclature of elevators, rescue tools, personal and passenger safety, elevator rescue operations, and newer technology being introduced into elevators.  Much of this content comes from my own experiences in the field. Due to the current pandemic, I am unable to present live instruction to this class and accompany it with hands-on training. Instead of the hands-on training, I have incorporated a collaborative exercise into the workshop, called the “2-Minute Drill,” which will put responders into a scenario and they will have to use what they learned from the training to navigate a rescue virtually.

I have decided to base my honors project on Cognitive Technologies, as I want to learn more about these technologies, how they work, and what they currently do. In my project, I hope to address whether Cognitive Technologies can help solve real-world problems outside of their current usage, as well as what a starting point for doing so would include.

People often have a hard time distinguishing what ADHD really is, and never know the differences in the way the brain works for someone who has it. Adolescents will have trouble being able to stop and think before reacting and ultimately get misrepresented as a delinquent child. My project is to bring awareness that there are other aspects to someone with ADHD within the educational and social aspect. By properly informing my readers of the essential laws and steps that protect and help those with the disability, will allow for a better understanding of boundaries, before claiming a child as a delinquent.

The student researcher used a Survey Monkey Likert Scale to screen 30 Group Work Practice Students to assess effectiveness of Group Work Practice Skills/Coursework on student internship rotation.   Thirty Human Services (Majors) Department Students provided feedback via Survey Monkey.   The survey consisted of twenty (20) Likert scale questions with answers ranging from “not effective” to  “above expectations”.  All thirty students agreed that the information/coursework/pedagogy received in the HUS 3504 Group Work Practice Course prepared them “above expectations” for their Human Services Student Internship experience.  The outcome yielded from this study shows that Human Services Students feel prepared  “above their expectations” to perform Group Work after engaging in coursework/pedagogy in Human Services Undergraduate Programs.

What aspects encourage people to join a secret society so close to their doorstep? Those who are lost without another person, those who experience injustice, those who fight for a cause, those who are educators all come together at an open mic. Poetry is an audio centric platform where one grips the voice which evades them in their daily lives. A community in which familial bonds can form with strangers. Poetry allows us to cherish our individuality, share our philosophies, speak about that which makes us relatable and human.
