What is similar between the unphotographable and the photographable moments is that with or without pictures, it has a story. The only difference is that with a photo the scenario is already pictured for you. In a unphotographable moment it is up to you how the scenario is pictured. You could give two people a scenario and they will have two different opinions. With a photo there is no opinion or debate. What is there is already there and you cannot alter the picture in ink.

Michael, This is a really thoughtful and interesting comparison. I’m curious to know which experience of recollection you prefer, the photographable or the unphotographable, and why? Do you really believe that with a photo there is “no opinion or debate”? I’ll have to think about this. I suppose it depends on the photo and the context in which it is viewed. What do you think?
I think that there are photos that simply cannot be debated. It can be told that one photo can have many opinions. However it depends how well you comprehend things. Those who understand deeper meanings and symbolism, they will come to consensus to what the photo is.
