This spring our Creative Writing Minor Presents event will celebrate the creative writing and multidisciplinary work of two City Tech faculty, George Guida (English Department) and Nora Almeida (Library Department). The event will include a Student Open Mic and food! Festivities begin at 1 pm in the Library Building Amphitheater, L-LG30.

George Guida is the author of more than ten books, including the novels The Uniform (Guernica Editions, 2024), Posts from Suburbia (Encircle Publications, 2022), The Pope Stories and Other Tales of Troubled Times (Bordighera Press, 2012), as well as the poetry collections Zen of Pop (Long Sky Media, 2020), New York and Other Lovers (Encircle Publications, 2020), and Pugilistic (WordTech Editions, 2015). His new book is Bloom and the Blitz: A Poem in 18 Parts. He curates the Finger Lakes Arts Series in Dansville, New York and teaches writing and literature at New York City College of Technology.


Nora Almeida is an urban swimmer, writer, printmaker, social practice and performance artist. Ongoing projects—Open Water, Creek: Two Cavities of the Heart, and Hydrofeminist Map Collective—are concerned with noticing, documenting, and transforming the intertidal zone and our relationship to it. She has recently shared work at: LMCC on Governors Island, Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse, FEED Media Art Center, Storefront for Art and Architecture, Coney Island Creek, and Valentino Pier. Her book, The Social Movement Archive, co-authored with Jen Hoyer, was published in 2021. She has an MFA in Poetry from Brooklyn College.
