McKenway Hotel

Location- W 27th and 10th Ave

Hotel Mission Statement-  Our hotel is catered to being a replication of a 1920’s Hotel that was supposed to be ran, but it got canceled earlier in the production process. We aim to revive the idea, and give guests a well rounded experience of a almost theatrical- like stay where the customers will believe we are a blast from the past.

Three Key Physical Features-

  1.  Every hotel room, and every desk will be equipped with a candle stick 1920’s telephone
  2. Postage Paid Key Fobs. It will have a plastic key tag with the room number, and persons name on the tag. Attached is the room key to their personal room. The keys will also have a Cubbie, at the front desk that the front desk agent will have access to when receiving and or giving keys to guest.
  3. Every hotel room will be equipped with a typewriter for the guest to use if needed per say, it will cost 50 cents per sheet of paper.

Three Key Services-

  1. Our ability to recreate a 1920’s feel will allow guests to relive the classic hotel environment. Which no other hotel can provide this particular service, our hotel will uniquely allow an insight a classic 1920’s hotel, and try to bring our services as close to the real thing as we can.
  2. Our closeness to a famous play called sleep no more which has been booming since it entered New York, has created a partnership with us, that we are given a 25% discount to their plays, and are allowed drinks also 25% off at their bar called Gallow Green.
  3. We have a fully functional rooftop restaurant which guests can view the high line from the rooftop and in conjunction to the restaurant is the bar that is open until 4AM, seven days a week. The restaurant will also feature a jazz band that performs every night.

Staffing-

At the McKenway Hotel, we’re focused on giving the guest a well rounded almost theatrical like experience. The employees are encouraged to act elegant and fancy to fit into the 1920’s vibe. However the staff has to be able to all of the guests questions and help the guest within respectable range. To reward our employee and help encourage these behaviors, we will have a retrospect system survey system. On the last day that a guest is suppose to check out, the house keepers given a note via notebooks and in the notebook will be the rooms marked, and they will slide slide a survey card underneath the door. This card was encourage guests to leave their rating, comments, concerns, etc. They’re also free to write down employee names, if they felt that the employee went above and beyond for them.

The reviews will be tracked, and reflected upon the team. If the reviews are good, each person will collectively receive a free meal at the rooftop restaurant, fully paid, and free tickets to see Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More. If the guest  chooses to not fill out the survey, upon checking out at front desk, the front desk agent will question their guest upon their stay. The front desk agent will also ask are there any people in particular that made your experience more remember able. The front desk agent will write that down, and keep track of it, so they can pass it along to managers, and rewards can be distributed to employees.

Of course our hotel is a 1920’s theme, but behind the scenes, beyond that technology is far advanced and the the centaur is a living and breathing technique ( robot and human). We will try to incorporate technology as we can, but a bare minimum. For examples, phone calls will be pre-recorded, and any questions guest have, will be answered via robot, but if they really need to speak to a person, we can connect them to someone. Reservations however will be handwritten in a book, that’ll recycle every 6 months, but be archived within the hotel. So it’ll be a perfect balance of robot and human. It’s intentionally done that way, because technology is hard to deny, but we’d like to keep our 1920’s feel as much as we can.

Staff are selected by primarily applying.  However we do select interns to work here and gain a well rounded experience within our establishment. We primarily focus on people who are located within in the city to work here, so the ratio of picking people from in the state to out of the state is 70:30. We like having people traveling distance, so it makes it much easier for our staff to commute, and if we need them, it’ll be easier to call them in, if needed to.

Ethical Self Evaluation-

We take pride on hiring a full diverse group of individuals.  As long as they can  fulfill the job requirements to the best of their abilities. Our search array doesn’t set any allocations. We are always to take in people with warm hands, and welcome them to our family.

Marketing Persona-  Our target is primarily people who are fascinated with the elegancy of the roaring 20’s.  However, we don’t settle just there, we welcome tourists, businessmen, families. We have a main focus, but we don’t settle there.

This will be a post about the opening of our hotel coming up in January of the new year, and inviting anyone to apply, and if they are interested they can attend the meeting December 7th at 4PM in the hotels main hall.

Post 2- December 9th, 2018

This will be a post after the hotel has finished hiring, and will let people know reservations will open next week, and it welcomes anyone to book,

Post 3- December 16th, 2018

This will let everyone know reservations has officially been opened, and the hotel will open at January 1st,  2019. It will also offer a promotion that if you book your reservations now, you’ll get 25% off Punchdrunks play Sleep No More.

Post 4- December 20th, 2018

This post will invite guests for a New Years Ball, December 31st at 7PM to celebrate the grand opening of the McKenway Hotel, and to also bring in the New Year of 2019.

Post 5- January 1st, 2019

This post will announce the grand opening of The McKenway Hotel, and thanking everyone for being with them at the party last night, and inviting anyone to allow booking for their hotel.

Signature Food

Baked Ham

A classic dish of the 1920’s it’s baked ham, soaked in brine overnight, rolled in rum the next day, and rolled in breadcrumbs and baked. This dish will be flavorful, juicy, and will give you an insight into what the 1920’s food was like.

Service Recovery-

The idea that an employee can start and finish a problem is empowering, and causes situations not to escalate as much as it should. Employees are given a cash limit, that is upped by their current position. If they are regular hotel agents, they are given $300, the highest position is given is given $800. They are allied to spend it on anything within respectable limits of the  hotel, and are it’s towards helping the guest. The amount of cash spent will be logged into a guest relations book, and will be kept a tracked of.  Managers will hold pre shift meetings, as well as a family meal with the staff to discuss current situations, plans for today’s shift, and anything else going forward, so everyone is on the same page, and nothing can is miscommunicated.

Features: Equipped with full service elevators, step-free access (ramps), automated main doors, mid-height light switches and power outlets,  automated mattresses, pet friendly(service animals).

Amenities: On call medical staff, handicap parking with priority parking, 24/7 room service, free wifi with Ethernet availability, therapeutic spa on site, free shuttle transportation, Free breakfast.

Group Hotel Teen Oriented

Our Hotel is catered for the teens.

  1. Room Size: We’re going to be a Hostel Hotel; meaning we’ll have bunks to fit at least 4-6 kids in a room. So it can be within the budget and easier for chaperons to keep an eye on them.
  2. Actives within the Hotel:  The hotel will have a party organized in the events room catered to the kids one of the nights they’re staying that will include a DJ, food, and alcohol- free drinks. The hotel will have free tours of the respective city throughout the day that the kids have to partake in.
  3. Data: Free Wi-Fi within the hotel
  4. Features: The hotel will feature a game room with a pool table, ping pong table, air hockey table. It will also have a gaming where the kids can play on consoles and play in with groups. It will also feature a pool within the hotel that will be open until 12:00AM.

Hotel Mission Statement:

Here at Atlantica Hotel we pride ourselves in being a luxury brand with dedicated and devoted employees. At Atlantica Hotel our guests, employees, and owners are our main priority in everything we do. Through hard work, kindness and authenticity, we create a one of a kind experience.

Three Key physical features:

  1. Inside Atlantica Hotel we provide a space by the pool where locals can come in and share their culture through food, music, art and jewelry. We decided to share this with the islanders and give them their time to shine within our hotel so guest can have the complete experience of their culture. The money earned goes back to the locals and helps them purchase items to bring in to sell to guest and for their family.
  2. Sustainability is very important to us at Atlantica Hotel and we try to aim to be as sustainable as possible. In each one of our suites we have a sign alerting guests of our towel renewal program. If a guest wants to reuse a towel it must be hung up, if they would like a new towel they can place it in the hamper provided near the exit. In each of our rooms we have low flush toilets, low-flow shower heads, and sink aerators to minimize the amount of water being used. Also provide recycling and regular garbage cans in the rooms and outside near the elevators and exits.
  3. There will be breakfast served in the lobby in a buffet style. The breakfast would consist of,
  • Avena – Oatmeal with cinnamon, vanilla, brown sugar, raisins, and milk served with fresh fruit.
  • Farina – Cream of wheat cooked with spices, ginger, milk, sugar, citrus peels, and coconut milk. It is served with cinnamon and butter on top.
  • Funche – A Puerto Rican dish that is usually served as a breakfast dish. It is boiled coconut milk or coconut cream, milk, salt, and butter mixed with cornmeal until thickened. Sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon is added to give it taste. Funche is served with fruit or nuts.
  • Natilla – Cornstarch custard topped with butter and cinnamon.
  • Pan de Mallorca – Sweet and light yeast rolls topped with powdered sugar. They are eaten with coffee or stuffed with eggs, cheese and ham.
  • Plátanos maduros o Batatas asadas – Sweet plantains or batata (type of sweet potato) baked with spices and served with eggs. Sweet plantains are sometimes mashed with milk and butter.
  • Tortilla de Huevos – An omelet made with diced tomatoes, cilantro, onions, peppers, garlic, orégano, and cheese.
  • Mofongo – Very popular Afro-Puerto Rican dish made with fried unripe plantain and other root vegetables mashed with garlic, fried pork (chicharrón), olive oil, and broth. and a whole lot more. All these foods are Puerto Rican style breakfast.

Three Key Services:

  1. At Atlantica Hotel we offer Wifi and Internet access will be available exclusively for guests only. Each room would also have a live feedback machine as to how the guests like the room and services of our hotel.
  2. Each one of our hotel rooms includes an Alexa from Amazon that is almost like having your own butler. With voice activation commands such as “Dim the lights to 25%” and “Turn on the Tv”, Alexa from Amazon will make your stay with us at Atlantica Hotel even more memorable.
  3. Here at Atlantica Hotel offer car services to take our guests to the beaches to enjoy a day full of swimming and snorkeling. We provide brand new Volvo’s, private drivers, and bottled water.

Staffing:

1.We encourage our staff to represent our brand and standards whether they are on the hotel premise or off. It is important to us to reward employees that provide excellent and award-winning service in every department. Each month at Atlantica Hotel we provide a special lunch for each of our employees. For also pick from each department employees who have received great feedback from guests and their coworkers. They receive either money or coupons for dinner.

A critical tool is a daily meeting overview at the beginning of each employee’s shift. The appointed manager must at the end of each shift type up a brief email that gives an overview of their day and what needs to be done the next day. Then at the beginning of each shift each team member must read the printed email and sign their name at the bottom. This interaction should not take more than 10 minutes and provides a clear message of what needs to be done.

Staff are selected through their resume, a standard interview and a 3-day trial period. If the interview feels as if the candidate is a good fit, the candidate is welcomed back for a three-day trail. In this three-day trail we will be looking for timeliness, eagerness to learn, patience and willingness to do whatever it takes to be hired. This kind of dedication is what we are looking for in new employees.

Ethical Self Evaluation:

Here at Atlantica Hotel are constantly conscious of running an ethically hotel that encourages people of different race, age, and religion to come work for us. Every six months our employees are mandated to attend a WorkForce in a Global Marketplace workshop that discuss current issues, how to workplace handle situations and more. We pride ourselves to ensure a safe and healthy work environment that everyone feels comfortable in.

Our hiring process does not require any personal information such as religion, sexually preference, disability or race. That way there is absolutely no way judgement plays a factor in our screening process. Also, at The Atlantica hotel we offer maternity leave for both female and male employees who are expecting a child and there is no mandatory age retirement.

Marketing Persona:

Eleanor and Mark love to travel to New York City to see what the city has to offer.  The couple is not the adventure type but more of the relax and unwind type. Their idea of fun is a relaxing massage and a nice dinner out. Eleanor and Mark both have an obsession with art and technology. They are conscious people who understand that this Earth is the only one we have and we must preserve it.

Signature Food or Beverage:

One exciting dish served at MiCasa is their signature Tres Leche that is made from the highest quality ingredients. This Tres Leche is unlike another else on the menu since it is a three-milk sponge cake with South American origin. This cake is typically made with milk, heavy cream and evaporated milk. Puerto Rican style tres leches adds an additional cream of coconut or mango milk and rum. Not only is this a dessert but it is also an amazing way to end a fabulous evening.

The Tres Leche is served on an authentic Puerto Rican plate from the country itself.  Our staff is trained specially how to make drinks and how to handle any situation if things go wrong. It is important to train staff to be knowledgeable and comfortable in all aspects of their job requirements.

Also, drinks include,

  1. Coquito – drink traditionally of the holiday season. Ingredients include: cream of coconut, evaporated milk, condensed milk, white rum, cinnamon and vanilla.
  2. Frappe tropical – Passion fruit juice, coconut cream, banana, and chunks of pineapple blended.
  3. Punche de Malta – Malta shook with ice, condense milk, vanilla and raw egg.
  4. Parcha con china – Passion fruit juice, orange juice, sugar, lime, vodka or rum.
