This memoir/essay, “Letter to Myself after the Death of My Father,” published by the therapist Lori Gottlieb is a moving account of losing her father during the pandemic. This memoir is unique in that she is also a columnist for the Atlantic. This memoir fulfills one of the most important functions of memoir: telling one’s story with the goal to reach others, to ask questions that go beyond an individual life. As a therapist, she is also writing to help others heal.
