Billie Holiday, Strange Fruit

And because your ideas and connections always inspire me, I’m adding a link to Billie Holiday’s “Strange Fruit.” One of my students made this valuable connection while we were reading this story by Hemingway. This deeply sad song exploring this country’s brutal history illustrates why telling and writing stories is so important. Story telling, personal histories, the importance of being heard–these are issues of social justice. “Strange Fruit” has a 75th anniversary in April 2021.
